In an ambitious project, FI-TS migrated the IT of Bayern Card-Services GmbH (BCS) from BayernLB infrastructure to its own production environment. This enables the credit-card competence centre to manage its certification to Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) more effectively. The new standard aims to ensure sensitive credit card data is handled appropriately at all times, so mandates compliance with extremely strict security requirements.

FI-TS went about the project by carving the IT services of Bayern Card-Services out of the rest of the infrastructure and establishing a new production environment for the credit card service provider. This means FI-TS now has a multi-client capable IT infrastructure for running applications from the credit card sector, and these can be PCI DSS-certified at any time for further clients.

As a specialist for innovative concepts in the credit card business, Bayern Card-Services manages in excess of six million credit cards with an annual turnover of around € 16 billion. “We were looking for a partner with whom we could enact the PCI DSS requirements to high standards but also as affordably as possible,” said Dr. Dietrich Keymer, Board Spokesperson of Bayern Card Services. “FI-TS offered a convincing package on benchmarks and performance alike.
